Hice este dibujo hace nueve años, trata acerca de cómo a veces nos engañamos creyendo que podemos vivir teniendo una opinión muy alta de nosotros mismos y rechazando la sabiduría que viene de lo más alto.

I made this drawing nine years ago, it is about how sometimes we fool ourselves believing that we can live having a high opinion of ourselves and rejecting the real wisdom that comes from above.

Overexposed

Hace ocho años me topé casualmente con esta persona y le pedí su permiso para tomarle una foto. Llevé el rollo al laboratorio y días después, cuando fui a recoger mis impresiones, me di cuenta de que la foto estaba muy sobre expuesta, así que hice este dibujo basándome en parte en esa foto y en parte en lo que recordaba. Después hice una pintura al óleo que todavía conservo aquí en casa.

Eight years ago I met casually with this person and asked his permission to take a picture. I took the film to the print lab and days later, when I went to pick up my prints, I realized that the picture was very overexposed, so I made this drawing based in part on that picture and in part in what I remembered . Later I made an oil painting that I still keep with me here at home.

This is part of a illustration series that I did for a book entitled "El regalo de Navidad". It is a beautiful and touching Christmas story that was written by my friend Edgardo Íñiguez. I will share more images of this project when I have a copy of the book in my hands.

Upcoming prints -03

Images from this afternoon at the print shop. It was very interesting seeing the printer in action. I signed the first proofs today and the rest of the prints will be ready on monday.

Upcoming prints -02

As I said before , I'm planing to release soon a limited edition prints (250 or less) of my Tree drawing, I spent today's afternoon at the press shop checking all the final details before the printing process.  This drawings are going to be printed on Fabriano paper using letterpress printing technique, numbered and signed.

Below you can see some pictures of the metallic plate, it was engraved with laser to preserve most details of the original drawing.  I'm not really sure about how deep is going to be the impression on the paper but I'll be working very closely with the printer to make sure that everything looks perfect.

It has been a long time since I spent so many hours painting with real pigments and brushes, though I ended up with a terrible neck ache pain. Right now I'm working on the cover design for this publication.
